Oh, I didn't notice the FET gain knob... I guess that was standard issue on some SSS.

I've seen this layout in black and white
It was asked in Taylors thread too, what is the reason behind the coiled cathode wires? Is this based on the original #005/HPD?

Thanks. I believe that the coiled wires are merely functional. The cathodes (two of the coiled wires) need to be routed from one side of the tube to the others and up and away from the tube itself. I straight wire tends to move around easily, but the coiled wire tends to stay put. A thick, solid wire likely would serve the same purpose. As far as I know, the coiled wire was based on the original. I don't believe, however, that there are any secret marshmallows or crystal lattices involved with those wires.
