How is this for inquisitive minds. I built two the first one will be my main player for life
I got lucky with the first one. I owned one of the finest 1958 Fender 5E3 amps in the past saved the tubes from it and used them in #1 Like Eric said it's a grab and go amp. The D Deluxe has turned all
my other amps into dust collectors. It works well for what I want out of a amp that's all.
Does my amp sound like a real Dumble Deluxe ? who knows, I could care less.

Steve.

Steve did you conclude that the difference between the sound of #1 and #2 is in the tubes?

Martin, As far as I can tell it's the transformers used. I will be changing
the transformers in #2 to the same that is in #1 otherwise everything
is the same in both amps.
#1 has a NOS 5/1959 OPT 4/8 ohm taps.

Nice build Eric.
I like your description of plug and play.
The band I'm in plays classic rock. we use a sound man and mic everything, so this amp is perfect for me to grab and go to the gig and play that type of music , (easy load in) and the other bonus is it sounds SO much better than my old 5E3 from which it was sired.

That being said I still love my ODS clones too!

Great stuff all around on this build. And....absolutely no nay-saying here or in ANY of the multiple threads going down on these builds that I can sense.

However, I am sure that there are many dozens of us here that have built a 5e3 or two and, love'em or hate'em, have a pretty good fix on what they sound and feel like.

It would be nice to hear (by words or clips) how this plan differs from the "standard" 5e3 plan. I have built a couple over the years and have found things that I both love and dislike (hate is way too strong a word!) about them.

Hearing about the differences from the guys that have both owned and played 5e3s (including and importantly the "finest" 1958 Fender version) and this version would be very valuable to the group.

Rock on!
