Hi,

I have built the Umble from ROG-site. While it is very nice OD-pedal it doesnt sound Dumbleish to me. The other pedal that has mentioned on this thread sound great IMO.

I have also tried to develop a dumble sounding pedal. From where it is now it works quite nicely with my D-clone  with the PAB engaged. Here is a quick sample with bridge HB. The pedal comes in about 00:22 and then I back off the guitar volume couple of times. Nice rock tone but not yet finished product

The delay is Microverb4 on Kleinulator (check brownnoteforum) + the monotrack is doubled to left and right. No further processing.

Well I tried it also with my P1 (not overdriven). It souns better in person:

cheers,

Ethos Overdrive AKA Boutique Overdrive

Post by Robbie »

Hi Everybody,

I have really enjoyed this website! As you all know there is fabulous amount of knowledge, experience and data regarding Mr. Dxmbles amps. I have just launched my new Dxmble like pedal call the "Ethos Overdrive" AKA Boutique Overdrive. You can find more info at my website www.customtonesinc.com or at the Gear Page.

Thanks,

Robbie

Robbie - put on your asbestos suit or at least make the sound clips on the sales website sound like a real dumble. Hint: more mids, more complex harmonics, more character in the overdrive.
Flame on - For 400 bucks and a donor amp you could have the real thing.
Flame off - nice try at getting customers but you might not want to post this on an amp builders website.
Sorry if I offended anybody by speaking out. Maybe others feel differently. IMHO one of the nice things about this forum is the lack of people trying to sell product. A lot of us regular posters build amps to sell but none of us try to sell them here.

No Problem!

I'm always open for comments and feedback. The only reason I posted was because my pedal was referenced earlier on in this thread, and I thought folks might want an update as to where it was at. If others feel the same way, I will not post any info here regarding the Ethos.

I apologize if I offended anybody in any way.

Thanks!

Fuchs is coming out with a couple of pedals, one tube and the other solid state, that are supposed to be outstanding. And he is apparently taking steps to ensure that the price and wait time remain reasonable.

I've heard the run-off-groves clips, and to me they don't sound good at all, much less Dumblish. I am impressed with the Ethos, and don't mind that Robbie dropped a reference. If he was spamming us everyday, it would be another thing! The Howie pedal clip on musictoyz also sounds very good.
I'm anxious to hear the Fuchs,..they have a pretty good "Dumble" standard to match to.

Well if you're going to be that gracious about it, I'm sorry I said anything
and keep fighting the good fight for talent in a box. In fact if you PM me I'll give you an idea to incorporate in your pedal to set you apart from the pack.

As your average (read: daily) Lurker, I say: Robbie, please stay.

I'm on the list as well, and I think it would be supercool if we could discuss your pedal/other pedals and some of the experienced guys like heistl and scottl (who, I think, ordered one of your pedals as well) could drop in and make some suggestions regarding mods to the ... *that* would be something.

I used to have a howie, my Zendrive sounds VERY similar to my HRM amp. I mostly liked the Jetter Blue pedal, but I think the red one is really nice too, more open than the zen. I have played all of these in person, I am not basing an opinion on clips through 3" monitors.

Just had a chance to play the Red and A/B'd it extensively with a Zendrive. Both pedals are very cool, the Red is more open sounding and easier to dial, I was very impressed. Not to take anything away from the excellent Zendrive.
