Definately, once I drew up the schem and cross checked everything one at a time I've realized that layouts are only good for that. Wiring is still best done from a schem.

Why do suggest this preamp iver the Mayer?

Mostly cause this pre is taken from the SSS and the Mayer has an ODS style pre. I think the feedback from V1B plate to V1A cathode/100R resistor plays a major roll.

A quick update. Had the 4.7M ohm resistor on the overdrive output and felt there was a slight drop in volume compared to the clean, so changed it to a 3.3M ohm. A much better balance between channels now.

Got to try it out tonight at a local jam, first thing I noticed is a lot bloody heavier to carry with the Marshall iron!!!! Soundwise, worth the pinched nerve!

Will record some clips on the weekend.

Recorded a couple of little clips.

Settings were:- vol 6, treble 5, mid 4, bass 3, drive 3, trimmer 2, master 4, pesence 4.

Siganal flow:- sm57 - AML1073 - Hairball Audio 1176 - protools.

Guitar is, stock 72 strat with dynaverb straight in the front. Clean sound was neck/middle pickups. OD sound was neck then switched to middle.
