I think 102 as a first build is going to blow your mind. The part ordering alone is a project in itself! There is a lot going on with the channel switching and a whole bunch of circuit boards. Its a great amp though!!

Try out the Trainwreck Rocket, lots of guys (including myself) started with that amp. Its fun to build and its still challenging, but there's lots of documentation and help in the TW side of the forum.

The amp is very Voxy with 4 el84 and you can add variable amounts of gain with switchable cathode bypass caps or an attenuator. It has great cleans but still gives up the goods. You can even add reverb pretty easily!

Good luck!

This sound clip of Mat's is still very close to my favorite "dumblish" clip on the forum

I just love the tone of that amp and his playing is phenomenol, IMO.

Another soundclip for Mat's mini-HRM

And some cleaner tone:

Those above are from this thread:

And here is the schematic. Colossal drew this up for Mat, IIRC?

Thanks for the clips they definitely sound great! Yah since it was my first build I was thinking of ordering a pre assembled board from ceriatone and modding it etc to fit my needs.

Although the trainwreck does sound like a great alternative I think Im ready for a little bit different in sound to a vox. Who knows I may just end up hating the el-84 idea and just build a straight up ods haha. :P
