The tonestacks are the EQ circuits and have nothing to do with output power.

2nd generation has a 100k slope resistor, caps are 510pf/.01uf/.1uf
and 500k linear/250kAudio/1M audio pots

3rd generation is similar but with a 250k Audio treble pot

Classic tonestack has 100k slope, 330pf/.047/.1 uf caps
250k Audio/100k Linear/250k Audio pots

Skyliner has 150k slope, 2200-500pf/.01/.1 uf caps
250k Linear/250k Audio/500k Audio pots

There is more to it and there are variations, but these values are common amongst several known amps.

I hope this helps.
I understand that tone stacks have nothing to do with power. However, the early generation Dumbles seem to all be fifty watters, while later generation all seem to be 100 watts. I'm trying to understand when someone says 'X' generation how that relates to the power amp and the power supply filtering. For example, what generation introduced the "precision" power supply?

Did Dumble ever build a 2nd gen with a 100 watt power amp?

Yes. #20 and #55 are 100 watts according to Rob Livesey's site.

The amp is a classic tone stack low plate 330uf 100k slope.
I know that the precision filter board is not period correct.
All of my other builds are skyline eq. I have been working on the SSS for two years and had no information on the SSS tone stack now I'm 99% sure that the SSS I want to build will have the classic tone stack. Tonight I played my 11/1960 Stratocaster and 7/1961 Stratocaster it does the SRV thing well
no break up super clean with the Stratocaster just what I was after.

Still trying to understand the terminology.
"pre-classic" I call the tone stacks documented in these layouts:
https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=24300
https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=14344

"classic" I call the tone stack documented in this layout:
https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=14346

"skyline" I call the tone stack documented in this layout:
https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=11313

The "pre-classic" tone stack you'll find in most of the still all original (not updated) 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation ODS amps and in combination with a version of the "pre-standard" OD circuit as documented here: https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=24300 and a "pre-percision" power supply as documented here (50W version): https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=24300

The "classic" tone stack you'll find in most of the still all original (not updated) "transition generation" and "4th generation" ODS amps and in combination with a "standard" OD circuit documented here https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=14346 and a "pre-precision" power supply as (100W version) documented here: https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=14346 and in "low plate" versions and in "high plate" versions.

An original (and not an updated "classic") "skyline" tone stack you'll find in many 5th generation and 6th generation ODS amps and in combination with a "standard" OD circuit or a "HRM" OD circuit and in combination with a "precision power supply".

You'll find 50W and 100W versions in all the ODS generations.
For example, what generation introduced the "precision" power supply?
AFAIK the first ODS amps originally built with a "skyline" tone stack and a "percision power supply" you'll find in the few "transition generation between 4th and 5th" chassis, looking like the one one the attached picture.

Cheers,

Max

Max,

THANKS for the explanations on the tone stacks! I really appreciate your help with that.

Years ago I was inside a black suede 50W combo;HRM,Skyliner, gold script logo,MusicMan power and I believe it had an Altec speaker. Other than my minimal interactions with HAD a few years earlier, I didn't have a freakin clue on the circuitry details and neither did the others that had been inside and mucked with all the trimmer settings. I wish I knew then, what I know now.

So the amp is a low plate classic then and not a 3rd generation? If so, the title should prob be updated.
