Are you building this or still in the planning stages, either way great work.

Any chance of you working your Visio magic on the ODRS #60????

Eric
Funny thing is, I'm not planning to build this style SSS.
I'm gonna build one more along the lines of SRV's. I'm one of the few who wants the really clean almost no break up sound. I've got enough amps that break up.

I was drawing up ODRS 13, but seeing that Greg has started drawing #60 I might get side tracked. I drew a schem but can't figure out the reverb mixer.

AFAIR someone posted in one of the other SSS threads that with the obvious exception of the missing deep switch SSS #001 reportedly has a "pre-classic" tone stack like a typical 2nd generation "pre-classic" ODS https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... 259#140259. If this should be the case the tone stack shown in this SSS #001 layout still might be incorrect.

A million thanks for the layout Aaron. I haven't been building amps in the past year because of a few problems but am happy to say I'm getting back to it now, so what a great project too try since I already built 3 other dumble style amps. Thanks again, Chad

Hopefully Final Draft

Post by Aaron »

Hi Max,

Here is (hopefully) the final draft. I've changed the tonestack to the 2nd gen. Just need to sort out the tremelo, I'll stare at the Borderline for a few nights and see if there is any clues that can be used here.

Now on to the next one!!!!!!!

Cheers,
Aaron

[EDIT]
New layout on next page

Aaron, first of all thank you for taking the trouble in favor of this community. According to Tony's layout in the Dumble Files section the 2nd generation "pre-classic" ODS amps have a 500pF bright switch capacitor.

Cheers,

Max

Here, here, great work! Is there a particular schematic that is being followed for this layout?

Aaron nice work!

You might want to number the versions.

It can get confusing down the road when you have four different versions all labeled the same.

Thanks!
Tom

Great job, Aaron. A big thanks sent your way. Nik will be greatful. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :P

Martin asked a good question. Are you working from a schematic? If not, I will volunteer to make one from your layout.

Great job Aaron!

Question for the masses, what output tubes are most planning to use and which PT transformer?

001/002 I believe were both Twin Showman.. Easily available and match the voltages that came with the 002 schematic!!

Tony - I beg to differ. The layout is close to the schematic that I posted, but there are many changes. Whether the differences are correct or not is an issue. That is why I asked about the source of the schematic.

I took a BRIEF look and here are some issues/questions with the layout/schematic so far:

1. I believe, the wiper of the treble pot should be connected to the outer leg of the volume pot, not the wiper?
2. The lower leg of the bass pot should be connected to ground through 100 Ohms, instead of 10k Ohms?
3. V1A cathode bypass cap should be 5uF or 10uF?
4. V4A grid stopper should be 68k or 56k?
5. V4A should be labeled V4B, on the schematic or layout, since it is connected to pin 7.
