The 317 is an adjustable regulator and requires a lot of extra parts to set the bias.

My kids pedal board supply consists of 6 7809's each feeding two coax connectors and 2 7818's for the roto vibe and a custom clean boost pedal.
What secondary do you feed the diodes and 7809? 9 or 12vac?
9 volts is going to be close at 9 *1.414 = 12.76v
12 is bettter at 12*1.414 = 16.9 volts.

The 7809 wants to see at least 3 volts differnce between the Gozinta and the Gozouta for stable output voltage.

FWIW, I have an advantage as my transformers have a 40V CT 2A secondary so I can play all kinds of games with LV circuits.

I'm incline to think the Voodoo labs power supply is a symptom and not the problem. Even Weber was selling transformers with separate secondary winding to allow complete isolation.

Personally I think there is more to it, here is the Voodoo info and a quote about their power supply.

http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_2.htm
Isolation is more than fixing ground loops.
Ground loops cause hum, and the solution is to break the unwanted ground path. Isolation is the best way to do it. Unlike other power supplies, Pedal Power 2 Plus isolates EVERY output. This eliminates tone robbing interaction between units. Now you can properly power everything from vintage overdrives to modern digital marvels that others just can’t!

Proprietary balanced transformer makes it possible.
A typical transformer, like those used in a wall wart, creates a large magnetic field that causes hum in any audio path near it. Pedal Power 2 Plus uses a custom designed, ultra-low noise toroidal transformer, with separate balanced windings for every output. Now even the most sensitive pedals can be dead quiet.

Switching power supplies aren’t for everything.
What’s good for charging a cell phone is NOT good for your pedals. While digital switching power supplies are small and inexpensive, they also generate unpredictable transients and extraneous noise. Pedal Power 2 Plus uses an audiophile quality linear supply for consistently stable, clean, pure power.
How is the recording going Jelle?

I do wonder why someone would get a Hotel Hog instead of an Overdrive Special. The ODS is a more sophisticated amp, I'd have that over a Hotel Hog any time.
Yours Sincerely

Well I am going to use ground control system but right now I was using whirlwind ab box.. I am about to get some serious help on the system here and rewire the entire thing..

I am bringing someone in to help me with that cause some of it is beyond me on how to run all this..

But Ill be using a tc m2000 for delays on Quinn strymon for HPD
alex reverb if I need a plate verb or anything.

I might be running 4 amps or 5. Hpd Quinn Odsr 69 plexi and the shawn lane amp...

Getting them all to work with each other will be the trick Ill post
the rig when its done along with clips this next 2 weeks will be ground breaking cause ive not even scratched the surface with these amps yet in this configuration.

More coming though. Ill get those techincal questions answered
as well from the source.

I think the switch bone is the thing that you are after, it has transformer isolated outputs. RG Keen has cheap versions of this, but you'll have to make the PCB yourself.

Yeah, the switch bone would be the thing you could use.

Every one of my clients in Nashville who have tried the Tonebone switching systems didn't care for them and sold them... If you can afford it the Bradshaw systems are the best way to go!!

I have the ground control system with two gcx switchers.

Its a poor mans Bradshaw system I did not have 10gs for one
back at the time and went with this system.

Ive broken it down and rebuilt it several times and
found some pedals like buffers some dont.

Wound up going back to old ab boxes..
but the whirlwind is not going to cut it.

Our Resident mod here Boldaslove is coming to help
dial in several amps here and take a look at a few others ..
8) 8)

Just scored a bassman 50 watt which will be made into a Hotel Hog
or something there of.

So we are about to get busy here in Texas.
He will be setting up my sound system and recording hd 24 track
so I can get really good clips ..

Meanwhile we can use zoom h4n and get some as well..
Quickly at that...

If the ground control cant cut the mustard ill get something else
but I know it does it just takes some time to go through it.

The next two weeks will be alot of fun here.
Been along long time coming too..

we will be posting quality clips and vids here from the onslaught.

Yea, I'mdriving to Texas as we speak (from Buffalo, NY to Dallas, Texad), about 100 miles past Nashville right now....

But yeah, I'm rebuilding Q-tone's rig ( 4 amps (Bludo High Plains, Quinn SDO-R, 69' Matshall Plexi, Frenzel 50w), 10 FX pedals, 3 rack FX's, and a few other Oddz-N-Endz.

It All needs to be switched remotely so any manual switching units won't suffice.

I'm building him a Pwr supply, with Isolated pw outputs for each output etc., an op-amp based input impedance signal buffer (for the long cable snake), two 7 to 5 pin midi convertet box ( for 7 pin midi snake), a breakout box to make all the amps foot- switchable functions accessable via the Ground Control system, a ((Strereo Summing Mixer)) to mix the time based FX in parellel, and a Dumbleator for the Bludo high plains drifter.

Lots of work to do..... All in a 22 space rollimg rack case.

Are you also using the ground control stereo mixer to manage effects signal flow?

Each amp will have a designated direct access controller on the Ground control board.

The ((Stereo)) Summing mixer is basically a Suhr MiniMix with stereo Inputs and Outputs, but with a Mono Send & Return. So that the time based fx can be run on both amps (a Bludotone High Plains Drifter, and a Quinn SDO- Reverb) with the same amount of effect,

Since its all mixed in parrelel, the sound of both amps are not mucked up by low quality analog to digital conveters.

Hi Tony

Why did your customers dislike the Switchbone?

I can only assume they didn't like having an active system between the guitar and their amps?

Oh yeah Jelle, how are the clips coming along?

I know miking an amp can be difficult, I remember using a mike I had lying around and I couldn't believe what I had recorded was the same amp. Personally it's not something that I want to spent the time perfecting.

Greg, multiple ways to skin the cat for sure, and I totally agree in keeping the amp as original and not mucked up. I've been running a wet dry setup for years and every time I go back to normal effects loops or pedals it just feels like something is missing.

Sounds like you have a plan with the Suhr setup. I've used the ground control GCX and stereo mixer for a long time. I really like the flexibility of being able to run effects in parallel and use GCX loops to on-off the amp signals on the effects inputs and keep decays natural. You can also put some effects in line with others like having a modulation effect feed into delays and verbs, all on the wet side of things. The mixer also has a volume pedal controlled VCA stereo port. I use it to control the overall volume of the effects so can go from a subtle delay/verb to a much louder Edge or Gilmour sound all with the same presets.

Good luck with the build and setup. sounds like the Texas night will be rocking.

QTone will you be showing us pictures of your rig once it is complete?

I can't say I've heard much of stuff your referring to.
