Check this thread out for tweaking the EF86. I adjusted mine to get voltages right, I am certain.

I will pull the chassis sometime this week and let you know what I did and the voltages.

If I can I will dive into J-Schem and put together the mods I made to the 86 Special.
I play it nearly every day for an hour or so and it sounds great, but I use a 6V6 instead of the EL84.

I was also thinking about the 6v6. Maybe an additional socket in parallel ?
The hole's already there.

I have noticed that a few volts one way or another makes a big change in the pentode's response.

They don't compress.

They cut off.

I'm interested in seeing your numbers. I'm getting too much fizz on the attack. I have re-read the EF-86 special thread about how Mat's amp is set.

I have tried the same and it does help a lot w/ Vol, Tre and Bass at 12:00 and drive at about 14:00 and the tone pot rolled back on the guitar.

My od tone control is at the smallest setting that's not yet zero. or it's nasty.
I suppose the Delta pro 12 has enough attenuation in the treble to filter much of the hash.
Heavens, an unused PI input !
