More than likely it is proximity effect to other components in the signal chain. ie bleedover between components. Normally you are placing the outside foil on the plate feeds, some awefully big signals are sitting on the foil. I have never tested the effect, but would guess that there could be some phase cancellation.

Well if you go by the spec sheet they are the same.. I use them in a few places in my SOD II and Zingaro amps. They play pretty well....
