Re: D Deluxe
I think Steve used fixed bias and set it to -30 volts reading through his posts
The 5E4 uses that method the 5G12 I think is also fixed bias.

Re: D Deluxe
Well you can use fixed bias cathodyne or cathode bias cathodyne PI but there seems to be more then stock PI circuit going on here and I actually am not sure unless I start modding and find out myself.
I was checking out the old/new Jim Kelly single reverb amps and his PI could be used too.

Re: D Deluxe
Nice layout.
Two things that caught my eye.
1) The .1 cap on the CF side is connected to both sides of the trimmer.
2) One ground is added between the brass plate and the V1 cathode ground point. I do not see that connection in the pics.
Great job!!

Hello, that layout looks sweet. Need the jumper across the two input jacks.

Only the primary output jack should be switched.

Re: D Deluxe
You could do the fixed bias mod on this PI circuit and the effect should be to further delay clipping just as in the standard 5E3 PI. That would be an interesting experiment; it might become too clean.M Fowler wrote:Well you can use fixed bias cathodyne or cathode bias cathodyne PI but there seems to be more then stock PI circuit going on here and I actually am not sure unless I start modding and find out myself.

Re: D Deluxe
Hello, not to get too picky but Dumble unsoldered the self lead from the OT and ran it to the speaker jack.

Re: D Deluxe
I agree the better the detail the better the build results very nice layout.
Martin I'm going to be messing around with the PI soon. I like the amp built as shown in Charlie's layout and this updated layout, but I want to experiment some more.

Re: D Deluxe
I'm in the process on the PI change and lower voltage PT. Let you all know.
We had a earthquake that took out the fiber optic internet under water cable.
I would like to personally thank all concerned for turning the thread around in a positive manner.
Steve.

Re: D Deluxe
I am so confused. Please guide me to a schematic.....I can't follow the content because I have no schematic. My apologies if it's in plain view, but hidden well.....
Thanks for all your contributions. I have original 5F11 and 5E3; both rough. I'd love to do before/after clips, but I need/want some guidance...please.
