Dumbleator Resistor Values

Ok, I've seen DL schematics that show the input stage with a 1M followed by either a 10K or 27K to ground. How critical is the value of that resistor to ground? Using parts I have on hand, I can either install a 10K or 29.9K. Will there be any real tangible difference if I use that 29.9K over the 10K?

i guess the larger resistor is there for 12ax7 type tubes. the 10k is suppossed to be for 12at7.

It does have an affect on the high end roll off due to Miller capacitance. Try them both and see what you like, you may not hear a difference at all as it may be above audable range.

I'm pretty sure that the 10K is used with the 1K5 cathode resistor, and the 27K is with the 1k8 cathode resistor. FWIW, I like 24K with the 1K8 cathode resistor.

Ive built em both ways.

I prefer the 1.8k/27k.

Might try what funk suggests, though 27k to 24 k is pretty slight.
