I'm still working on my amp (mostly on the cab now) and it should be ready for public appearances in the next couple of weeks. First stop should be at a friend of mine's house who has a home studio to get it recorded for some clips...and hopefully some further suggestions for tweaking. Wondering where you guys are getting you backing tracks for your clip recordings? They sound great...and they sure beat some 12 bar shuffle that I will probably end up recording otherwise.
Second question. As many of you have read, LuthierWNC has had a low B+ with his build...that he ultimately decided was the current demands of the amp taxing the PT. Well, LuthierWNC and I live in the same county and he helped be build my amp...and I have the same problem B+ problem with mine. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion whether or not "grail" tone can be achieved with only 417 vdc on the plates of a 6l6?
I figure that I'm destined to get a new PT, but its not going to be anytime in the next month or two. Would appreciate anyone's 2cents.

1) www.scottlernermusic.com/backings help yourself
2) My Dogears tweaked Fuchs SLX 30 runs 413v on the plates of 2X6L6 tubes. It is cathode biased. It sounds AMAZING. Just make sure to adjust the dropping string to try and bring the other voltages in line. I get 285v on the PI and 200-210v on V1 and V2 Also, make sure to adjust the bias accordingly. You'll need to set it hotter since your plates are lower than the norm. Ie, if you set a 480v plate at 36ma, try 42ma or something up there with the 417v plates.

Re: Backing tracks/B+
Scott, are the SLX30 clips on your site (slow blues, swampy Lowell, and funk fusion) the cathode biased amp? They DO sound amazing....cathode biased, or not.
Re: Backing tracks/B+
Yep.... They are. So is this one.

Since then, I have adjusted the screen caps and the loop tuning. The amp is even noticeable better!
Thanks for the comment.
