OD Cathode GND Location

Hi All!

I was wondering what the correct place is for grounding the overdrive stage's cathodes?

I've seen places ranging from the ground bus to the chassis where the return/send jack grounds but I suppose it would make the most sense to ground it at the lug in front of the input jack no?

It's hard to tell what Dumble did even from the pictures of #124. That still might be up in the air...

I connect the CL and OD cathodes together under the board, then to the lug by the input like ampdork explained.

Dumble amps use more or less a "random" grounding...

One good option is a "bus ground" where to connect each circuit "signal ground", then you connect the bus to the chassis (ground) in just one place (usually near the input jack).

A better way with a completely different layout is a "distributed capacity galactic ground", but you have to rearrange the layout in order to put each PS filter cap the nearer to the related circuit elements as possible. HAD did something in that direction in 80s ODSs putting the filter cap for the first stage near V1 socket.

I haven't heard it called that before but are you referring to something like this (from Hoffman at http://www.el34world.com/Hoffman/ampphoto.htm)?
