I hope Gil does not mind me answering this:
I used the 1 W resistors which should be fairly enough.

Re: Dumble vs Bruno
No problem, Dominik. Those resistors are actually rated at 1/2W, but are Mil-Spec. Brandon exaplined to me that Mil-Spec items are commonly specced at 1/2 their actual power rating, which would explain why they look so big.ElectronAvalanche wrote:I hope Gil does not mind me answering this:

From the Mouser catalog:
150K 1/2W metal film 71-RN65D-F-150K
221K 1/2W metal film 71-RN65D-F-221K
and their data sheet is here:

Re: Dumble vs Bruno
Hi Gil,
I bought them at Welborne Labs and it said 1 W on the invoice. Maybe they are slightly different from the ones you use, mine say:
Dale 0442J RN65D 221 3F
Dale 0442J RN65D 150 3F
I think the F stands for flameproof bwt. They were comparably cheap with 40 cents per resistor.
However, I really do not think this would make ANY difference
But they do need to have a little burn in.....

Ewww...
I know an amp doesn't have to look pretty to sound good, but it reminds me of something Morgan Jones said about aesthetics. "The highest expression of engineering is indistinguishable from art."
There's no reason for an amp to be that ugly on the inside.

I think this is a cowtipper. I was as surprised as you, considering his "reputation".

Truely Andy, the Cowtipper series is the finest sounding BF clean I have EVER heard. All of my BF Pro's and Supers are history BECAUSE of the untouchable SOUND quality's of the the Cow's. No amplifier, including some of the various Dumble clones out there ( Fuch's included ), eclipse the Cowtipper clean tone. It ain't pretty, I agree, but I gotta take issue with an amp manufacturer posting gut shot's of the competition..low blow dude. BobFUCHSAUDIO wrote:I think this is a cowtipper. Re: Dumble vs Bruno
Look he puts his name on it he must be proud enough of it for us to look at it.
Bob if I posted the pics that would make a difference?
I can't see myself ever buying one thanks to Tag he has made the name repugnant to me. I don't think I could even give it a fair listen.
I think it was a kind of endearing quirkiness that Dumble uses wood grain Formica for his boards and goops them. The whole mad hatter in the castle thing. But for anybody else to try that is ridicules and they should be ashamed.

Well, apart from Tag's "upfront, in your face approach", not only can the man run circles around most of us on guitar on this page, he also, truely, has a good ear and knows tone. I am not making excuses for anyones wiring finese, nor do I even profess to build. I do however find it inappropriate and crossing the line for an amplifier manufacturer to post gut shots of their direct competition. This same issue arose on the TGP forum some time ago. Truely, if I wished to, I could post shots of an unnamed amp makers gut shots to make a point, illustrating one's "reputation" with regards to wiring or for that matter, sound quality. And yes, if you had posted the shot's it WOULD have made a difference as I believe that no conflict of interest questions would then come to mind.908ssp wrote:Look he puts his name on it he must be proud enough of it for us to look at it.![]()

Re: Dumble vs Bruno
<rant> I'm not sure where this thread is heading, but I thought this was a Dumble forum? Specifically, a Dumble clone builder's forum...you know, with guys that build clones. Not guys that buy clones, or bash clones, but guys who share what they know and help each other try to dial in tone.
TGP has already beat the Bruno clean thing to death. Who cares? If I wanted BF cleans, I wouldn't have gutted my Bassman. As for the pics, I've seen them posted before, as have others on this board. Andy Fuchs ain't gonna sell amps here, and Bob Stirner ain't gonna sway us to Bruno.
As far as I'm concerned, this crap belongs on TGP, not here.</rant>
