Captive t-nuts in Dumble chassis.

Post by rackandroll »

Does anyone know where to get those cool t-nuts used in the chassis mounting scheme. I must admit that I can't find these and they do seem to solve alot of mounting screw headaches.

If you don't need to get them wholesale try Metro Amps. I use a lot of rivet nuts which are handy and easy to install with the tool. You might look through McMaster-Carr. They may carry what you're looking for too.

My local hardware store has them, they are called weld nuts. I have seen them at lowes also.

I have a new batch of 10,000 on the way that have the 1/8" mounting holes already in them, If you can hang tight for a couple weeks I'm sure I can part with a few :D

Check you local hardware store, but none of the ones I got at Lowes or ACE were the right size. Brandon's worked great!

OK, funk, I'll take you up on this. Thanks so much.
Funny how one detail like this can really make something as simple as mounting the chassis very easy.

just send me a pm now and then, like I said, I have 10,000 on the way, but they take a while to get made. I'll hook you up as soon as I have some more.

If you did decide to go the rivet nut route, I just stopped at Menards today (not sure how many of you live near one) and found for 10 bucks a rivet nut tool that comes with 5 or 10 nuts of several different sizes. I think I'm going to go that route this time around.

Oh, those nuts. I was having a "blonde" moment. I thought you were talking about the nuts for Marshall chassis'. You can get the nuts in the pic there at McMaster-Carr and they are called weld nuts like someone mentioned.

You can also get weld nuts from Mcmaster, but you are going to have to drill your own mounting holes.

PEM nuts can also be used, but you MUST have the right sized drill bit. Installation is a bit tricky, but I have had good luck using screw, nut and washer to install them.
