Space for relay trannie

Post by benoit »

Between the fender style pilot light and more than standard spacing of my front controls I ended up with almost nowhere to put my 12v trannie. Does the placement shown in the pics work? I don't like how close it is to the presence pot.

DIY chassis is a bear.

Just curious. How many amps does this transformer need to carry?
I would think you could get a smaller (size and power) transformer to do the job.

As for the current need, I have no idea and am not real good at the math. Do you know for sure whether it would be a problem?

I wound up using 1.0A transformers for both my Fender conversion and my #124. I was a little surprised at how big they were. I could not find many posts on 'pushing the envelope' of how small one can go.

Yours actually looks smaller than the one I used. I checked the 'innards' photos and most (except Gill's BM build) have that transformer closer than 1" to the presence pot.

I had to wrestle with a similar type of indicator lamp squeezing the transformer into the Fender chassis.

IIRC the radio shack 'Standard' is 450mA.
