Dumble overdrive as a second projet ????

Post by Hexa »

Hello,

One year ago I built my first tube amp project, a single chanel, class A, 9W amp (http://www.projetg5.com). Since this time, it's like a virus I'm looking for what could be a good next, amp construction, step for me :D

As I'm still really on the "beginner" side ... I was looking for an amp with some good shematics available and a passionned community behind (for that I think I'm on the good place  )

I was also looking for a dual channel with enough power to be used with my band ... and of course having this 'american' drive sound I'm really in love with

Regarding shematics I've found the followings :
- http://www.schematicheaven.com/dumbleam ... lschem.pdf
And the layout :
- http://www.schematicheaven.com/dumbleam ... ut_50w.pdf

What do you think about my idea ??? is a "dumble like" amp something realistic as a second project ???

Many thanks in advance

Seb

PS : sorry for my poor english ... I'm french

It's a big jump in complexity, but still totally do-able if you take your time.
Quite a few people successfully completed the D'Lite as their first attempt at amp building.
...go for it!

Thank for the reply Brownnote :D

I just checked the forum for Schematics and Layout ... and my feel, is the D'light could be the good "beast" for my second try in Tube amps.
less options = less confusion . I also think it could be possible to add some of the options in a second step after the first construction (specially the foot switch which could be particulary interresting to me ;) )

Could you just let me know if the layout I've found on "thenormster" website are the most current one ???
--> http://bad-domain/DumbleLite/
and for the schematics

Again many thanks for your help :P

You can also consider the 'tweaked D'Lite' variation of the schematic, which a number of people have been building recently: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=4176

And don't forget to check out Brown-note's forum for lots more user experiences and support: http://www.brownnote.net/forum/index.php Look for the D'Lite Discussion section.

sure...that layout is a really old one...there are new, better layouts on the brownnote.net/forum under "D'Lite Discussion" and "Schematics & Layouts"

If you have questions shoot me an email.
