I am confused: from the picture I posted, how can you infer where on the relay board I tap from? Not shown in the details. :)
I figured it was a NON-HRM, where the J/R is (always??) wired to a 'switching' contact on the PAB relay.

So, it looks like, in yours (Dumble's?), the DEEP would go away (along with JAZZ/ROCK) when in PAB and in the (possibly incorrect) 1977 schematic, the DEEP stays when in PAB, right?
Sorry, I don't understand the dexcription of your interpretation. If you want to post a schematic of what you think the case is, I will gladly comment on it. If it helps:

1. the J/R switch gets defeated in PAB mode. Andy Fuchs said Andy Brauer told him he discovered there was an in between position in the J/R that got this boost, and Dumble wired the PAB via relay to achieve that.

2. The Deep switch continies to work in PAB mode. If softens up the sound a little bit.

Sorry if I'm making this more confusing than it should be. Here is a schematic showing the two 'versions' that I am comparing.

My interpretation of your picture is shown as the RED trace.

So, the gold trace goes to a non-switching pole of the PAB relay and your red trace goes to the J/R switch which makes its way to the PAB relay and connects to one of the switched contacts. So, it looks to me like these two would function differently when the PAB is engaged, no?

Or another way to put it, the gold trace is ALWAYS connects to the center tap of the BASS, wheres the red trace gets disconnected from the BASS center tap when PAB is engaged.

Yes, the red stuff agrees with my amp and the others I have seen. Dunno what the alternate wirin would do, never tried it. :)

Ok, good. Since I don't know of a current schematic showing both the J/R and the DEEP, I think I'll add an addendum to my #124 schematic showing the original 1984 wiring with the DEEP to put in the 'Files' section.
