Can anyone explain to me how changing the values of the swamper resistor affects the amp?
Thanks

Re: Swamper Resistors
If you are talking about the input grid resistors for the PA, going larger would normally make the amp a little darker in tone (slight) and it would also make the amp more electrically stable.jonrya91 wrote:Can anyone explain to me how changing the values of the swamper resistor affects the amp?

Re: Swamper Resistors
Thanks, I apologize, i should have been more specific...
This is on a D'lite.
I'm talking about the 1.8k resistor across pins five and six of the power tubes.
Thanks!

Re: Swamper Resistors
Do a web search on PI design - those resistors actually can improve PI headroom by limiting the current the output grids try to pull, of course there is a limit to how high you can go without ruining the gain and tone.
F.Y.I. pin 5 is the grid - pin 6 is just a handy tie point, many times it is used as a tie point for screen resistors.

Re: Swamper Resistors
One I had forgot that is the same as Henry is talking about is blocking distortion.
