as the subject tells...waste of time? or good solution to achieve a larger frequency response from the clean channel?
guess it affects also the OD channel...

Any sense in removing V1 local feedback on non HRM?

Try it and see if you like it. I put a switch on mine. It isn't really the frequency range that I hear expanding; it's more of the feel and response of the cleans, a change in volume and sustain. Yes, it affects the OD channel, but you might be able to run a relay back there, too, tied to the OD switch. It could re-engage the feedback when OD is on.

yes, that's a good idea...greiswig wrote:Try it and see if you like it. I put a switch on mine. have you liked the clean more without the feedback? breaks up earlier?
Re: Any sense in removing V1 local feedback on non HRM?
I specifically left this off my Fender conversion to see how it would be different from my Dumble clone. I was thinking without the circuit it would be more of a 'Rock' amp, ie plays power cords better (which it does).
I did not have any more room for switches ,but check out the "Smooth" switch on this schematic from Steve Ahola's Blue Guitar site. It uses a three position switch, so middle is off (ie feedback loop is totally out of the circuit).

I actually prefer the cleans with at least a bit of feedback. After trying a switch position without any LNFB, I ended up with a 3-way switch that has settings for 44, 66, and 88m of resistance in the loop. It usually stays in the 44 setting. Does it break up any sooner with less? I have a hard time getting the clean to break up at ALL, even with the volume knob at 3:00 and with 100k/120k plate resistors on V1.massygt6 wrote:yes, that's a good idea...greiswig wrote:Try it and see if you like it. it's an interesting approach...ic-racer wrote:I specifically left this off my Fender conversion to see how it would be different from my Dumble clone. I was thinking without the circuit it would be more of a 'Rock' amp, ie plays power cords better (which it does).

I think that this is worth a try...
thanks!!

Ciao Massy.
mi sa che già ci siamo visti in altro forum italiano......
BTW I actually prefer the cleans without feedback.
It's justa a matter of taste.
The OD can be adjusted to suit this bigger sounding clean channel.
Hope to see you in Grosseto .
Ciao
Paolo

ciao!
I tried to remove the local feedback on V1 and the cleans are just beautiful and full, with a lot more punch and clarity...by the way now I'm trying to lower the cathode bypass caps on V2 to bring down some gain and low end clipping...
we'll see in Grosseto
