Main difference between a Dumble & Boogie circuitry?

Post by Mondoslug »

Obviously not a tech head...

Could you describe in a short sentence or two what the main differences in the design are? I guess I'm talking non-HRM Dumble and the quintessential original Boogie amp.

Thanks.

A Mark-I, on the hot side, goes: gain, gain, tone, gain, gain. A "D" goes gain, tone, gain with an optional gain-gain in the overdrive. Dumbles knock back the signal a lot more between stages. Generally speaking, the further the tone controls are into the amp, the raunchier it gets. The signal is already distorting before it gets there. Long story short, the "D" has a cleaner clean option. Mesa has more gain.

Tough to put a short answer on this one but this might help you,
