Looking for layout schematic, w/ reverb - SF bassman donor

Post by jlatrace »

I have a SF bassman that I wish to covert to a Dumble circuit with reverb. I wonder if someone can refer me to the post (s) where I can find a reliable schematic and layout for this project? I was greatly helped by folks from this site in my recent TW build and post build tweaking, thanks.

I've been to the Brownnote and Ceriatone sites, both very good. Also I've read many posts here, also very good. Frankly, there is so much information here and other places I'm not certain which schematic/layout to start with.

I am a hobbiest and not a professional amp builder. I am a tweaker and enjoy experimenting with tone/sounds in my builds and the posts here tell me this build is a tweaker's joy.

I posted a layout of a SF Bassman about 18 months ago in the files section, but Normster also posted a SF basmann w/reverb a few months before.

Where are you located in AL?

Thanks Bob, I found both of the layouts you referred me to. Also I have download the Overdrive 101, HRM and non HRM schematics you and others developed, thanks for doing those. By the way, I am in Birmingham.

I'm comparing the ODS 101, HRM and non-HRM schematics and I have some questions. I'm trying to figure out which schematic I should use a a platform for later tweaking? Also, what does HRM stabd for?

I currently play in a Contemporary Christain rock band but I played jazz for more than 25 years before. Also I play blues. I like the sounds of those using a Dumble, but I am not sure where to start building my Dumble ispire circuit. After building and extensvely tweaking several amps (approximately 5-6 diff amp circuits), I have developed a pretty good idea of what I like and what I respect, but do not like. My last build was a TW express which is a great amp, but not what I would enjoy playing every night.
Thanks,
Les

HRM stands for Hot Rubber Monkey. It's a phrase coined during a tone quest interview (don't remember who was interviewed). The HRM is basically a post OD stage tone control in addition to other coupling and resistor value changes. It helps smooth out the overdrive, although many others here on the forum like the tone of the OD w/o the HRM. You should build, as Dogears has suggested many times on the forum, with a known baseline, such as the #124, then tweak to your liking. 8)

Thanks Bob. Also my wife is from Huntsville... sort of. She is a child of NASA and has has lived almost everywhere but claims Huntsville as her home.
