How to attach the eyelets to the board

Post by jazzbass »

Hi everyone,

I'm about to start a new adventure and I was thinking of building a Dumble clone that combined the clean character of the first amplifiers, perhaps with reverb, to the OD sound.
Most likely I will use a scheme that I found on Ampgarage generously published by Rootz but I have a problem......to fix the eyelets on the boards I used a drill press and a pin which inserted inside the eyelet, with the help of the wheel that lowered the spindle, crushed its end part. The result was an eyelet firmly fixed in the eyelets board regardless of its position.
Unfortunately, after so many years and so much pressure, the drill press broke and I ask for your help. How do you fix the eyelets? obviously if you prepare the boards yourself.

Thank you

Thanks pdf64,

Turret Stacking Tool TT-32 is exactly the tool I was using with the drill press I used to force the eyelets.
The drill press allowed me to use one hand to hold the board and with the other I applied force to the chuck.
The problem remains if I fix the base on a sturdy wooden surface and then use a hammer to fix the eyelet.....how do I keep the board straight and still?.

As I recall, I fit mounting standoffs to the corners of the circuit board, to keep it level.

Or get yourself a small arbor press.
