Interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing. The more I think about it, the more I think it is somewhere in-between a 3rd and 4th gen amp. Of course what we don't know is if this is how Dennis Herring received the amp or whether it had updates during his ownership. Just a little too much speculation I guess....but fun trying to work it out!dbharris wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:27 am You may find this thread interesting:https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... ey#p122933
You will note the 12AX7 tube in the PI slot of ODS #002. There are also interviews on the interwebs with David Lindley stating that HAD updated #002 from time to time, but he never let him touch #008.

There is a longer video of the amp being played here:

Every time I hear an example of a Dumble tone I really like it’s when the speaker is an EV, I think it is an added texture, I’ve never tried one but have a pair of 90s Mesa EV 12L Black Shadows that I scored coming next week. I’m hoping to get some very similar tones with my Amplified Nation Overdrive Reverb (I converted it to take both 6L6 & EL34) and my Wonderland Overdrive which is a low plate classic on the drive side.
I would love to know more about #022
It does sound fantastic in these clips.
I’d imagine a certain person in this video would have loved to peak inside if he had a chance before it was sold to Jason Isbell.
The impression I get with the EVs is that they add a grainy flutey-ness to these amps? I could be about to prove myself completely wrong!
I also need to dust off Dumbleator, which is also in action in these videos.
I think if schematics and information on #022 were to surface it would be my first Dumble build.
There’s a Premier Guitars video with Jason Isbell showing it off here:
