What is this?
A buddy sent me these pictures.
He thinks it might be an early Dumble.
What do you think.

Re: What is this?
Very new production looking parts (late 80's ish) to be an early Dumble, Plus Every Dumble I've seen has had MF Plate/Cathode resistors.
I think that is just something someone built- Notice the flea clips-
I could be wrong though

Re: What is this?
I don't think I can make a useful comment on who built this but I can comment on the components.
The switches on the back panel, with the squared off bottom, reek of "made in Japan." I have a 70s vintage "Nittei" switch in front of me that is made in Japan and is nearly identical.
The ganged potentiomenter on the front panel with the inked "1MA" is also characteristic of a 70s vintage Japanese component. I have never seen a 70s CTS pot with an ink stamp, but I just was working on a 70s Japanese Domino Californian guitar that had a simlar stamp on the pots.
Like Funk pointed out, there is a mix of new and old. The chassis and zink plated hardware show almost no signs of oxidation. The OT has wires that look like new, while the PT has old wires.
My guess is that someone made a recent project amp out of some new and old components, perhaps originating from a junked Japanese amp.

Re: What is this?
No way HAD ever touched this in any way. Nothing looks like his work including solder technique, lead dress, component anchoring, layout etc.
This looks closer to the work of whomever made the "total Butchery" amp in the files section.

The black electrical tape that turns into a sticky mess after a few gigs is a nice touch. I HATE that stuff. Masking tape is almost as bad.

And I was going to say it reminds me of some Brunos I've seen....heisthl wrote:No way HAD ever touched this in any way. Nothing looks like his work including solder technique, lead dress, component anchoring, layout etc.

Not to poke fun, but it honestly reminds me of my first guitar-related electronics project I made some 10+ years ago - a TERRIBLE sounding fuzz pedal I did for a project in a high school electronics class. Solder as adhesive, electric tape as sleeving, rat's nest wiring, ah yes.... I think I even put it in a plastic case I had some old Topps baseball cards in. Shit, those were the days.

Re: What is this?
As heisthl and Gil have already mentioned that layout and wiring is far to sloppy for HAD even on a bad day.
Re: What is this?
I looked at the pictures and found one cap in the middle section of the preamp which positive lead isn't touching anything. That particular place looks to be also some kind of "new modifications zone".
I also found one empty tube socket which implies that it's not yet "finished"...
It looks quite scary amp to me...

This is a piece of technology desinformation planted by KGB in the days of cold war. The blue drops are made in the USSR in 1970s. Metalized mylar.

Thanks for your opinions. I didn't think it was either but he has it in his mind that he found the Holy Grail and won't listen to anything different. Besides, it sounds like crap.

Re: What is this?
wowowowow... pretty funny.. "The knobs just scream dumble" "I have a strong feeling this is a dumble" Amazing how cheeky people can be.
Re: What is this?
I didn't take a very close look at the inside pics but I don't think that is a "dumble modded fender band master head", that chassis and cab was not made by Fender. Looks like Fender iron is as close as it gets to anything Fender

Re: What is this?
Gee,some guys are actually bidding on that amp.It looks like a swap meet special I once had for fifty bucks. If I had it I'd gut it and start over.
that is one sloppy mess of an amp.

Crystal latice or vacuum, that is the question.
