PUSH PULL POTS

Post by Bennypapa »

I am rebuilding a Fender Bassman into an ODS and would like to use some push pull swithing pots to conserve front panel space and maximise functionality. I am having trouble finding 1MEG audio pots with DPDT switches. CE dist has some but they have pcb terminals instead of solder lugs. I'd rather have solder lugs.

I guess I could make little pcbs for each switch/pot but that is a lot of work that I'd like to avoid.

I just don't want this amp to look junky.

Does anyone have a source for these pots?

Thanks all

Mouser.com carries push pull pots with solid shafts. tubesandmore.com carries split shaft push pull pots in 250k and 500k.

Guys,

I have a source for Push/Pull pots and the wonderful thing is that it is 24mm size and not the 16mm that you see regularly.

And they have a good range of values: 1M, 100k, 250k, 500k, etc. I can definitely find linear tapers but audio tapers need a bit of work.

And the price is around half that you pay at other suppliers.

Not sure if anyone is interested?

Benny,

I don't know how much help this will be, but I used the slider for rock/jazz and push/pulls on the treble (bright), mid (boost), and bass (deep). Didn't need a 1MA and the 250K/500K audio is more widely available in push/pull.

They are Noble brand. Did a check on their website and couldn't find any info. Seems that these are NOS. Noble has switched to 16mm.

I prefer 24mm because the tension is the same as with other 24mm pots. Without opening up the chassis, I can usually tell which are 16mm and 24mm by rotating the shaft. The 16mm are easy to spot because the rotation is way too loose. 24mm pots have slower wear and tear as there's more surface contact on the carbon strip.

I'm able to get linear pots. But I'll have to hunt for audio tapers.

The D-shaft is plastic but can be cut down to proper length for your own chassis. The D-shaft somehow is aligned such that when the solder lugs are installed facing upwards, the rotation is 7:00 to 4:00 - which is good for us Dumble cloners.

I used Push/Push pots before, but they died on me within a few minutes of using it. Those were WSC brand. The switching mechanism was poorly designed.

Couldn't attach pics. Send email to me if you'd like to see the pot.
