Two things:
1. I can't be expected to mod every post within 1 hour - If you can, I'd be happy to add you as a mod, but don't miss that 1 hour deadline.
2. It sounds to me that a john mayer Two rock is basically a dumble amp clone if I recall no?

Hey Phil, I appreciate all you do for the forum. Not sure where the 1 hour expectation came from though.
I was just trying to make the point that this forum was supposed to be about discussing Dumble and his circuits but often devolves into clones and in this case a circuit with distant Dumble DNA (ie not a clone). I am all for discussing new circuits and evolving the design but maybe a different forum may suit this discussion better.
I may be totally off base here and I apologize if so,
I was just being a bit silly because your post sounded like you were unsure why mods weren't already moving the thread, and you post came about 1 hour after the OP posted.
my sarcasm rating was high that day, so please ignore me
OTOH I generally believe the dumble discussion has always had clones and many other variants, new build ideas, tweaks like the foot-switchable FET etc. I do try to keep the Dumble Files section purely dumbles' amps only as much as I can though
Forum members can correct me if that's an invalid assumption.
Bearing in mind the space constraints, and PT limitations Erwin noted...
Another idea could be to explore something along the lines of a 4 preamp-tube JM assuming you have the Princeton Reverb PT - you save 1/2 a tube with the different PI already and perhaps you could save the other half with a 1-tube reverb circuit?
It's something I've wondered about using spare parts but have not looked at yet.
FWIW, I think these projects are a great way to explore and learn if you have the means; with 4 tubes I presume you may need to consider if the reverb will be strong enough and perhaps if the overall gain is enough to drive the power tubes. More experienced members may point out other flaws.
If it helps to know, I'm very happy with the result of marrying up the JM front end onto a Deluxe Reverb power section.
It’s essentially just a classic stack with an extra plate driven mixer stage…pretty hard to make it sound bad … if you built it right in front of any power stage it would sound good, even without reverb . It all boils down to available space , technical specs of transformers , and know how is all .
