I don't have a Dumbleator yet. In the meantime, I was wondering what wet/dry options I have. I've seen people on this forum mention that they use this type rig but there are many ways to configure it. I'd like to hear how you have your wet/dry setup configured. The main challenge I see is that the preamp out might be too large of a signal to go into some effects. So the question:
How do you set up your Dumble style amps (for a live situation) for wet/dry without a Dumbleator?
Thanks,
Don

Re: Wet/Dry Rig Configurations
I take the pre amp out into a volume pedal and have my delay and reverb sent into a stereo 2x12 cab via a small class D 100w stereo power amp. I can control the level of the reverb/delay via the volume pedal. the ODS is mainly a pre amp based amp so the FX send works well for this.

My sound comes from overdriving 25-40W amps, so loops aren’t an option. Rather I use a low impedance mic on the dry speaker cab, feed that to an echo pedal via an unbalanced cable. Echo pedal modded for wet only. Then from that, via a volume pedal, to a ‘junk but nice’ 30W solid state Tanglewood combo that has a great 12” speaker. I got the Tanglewood for 10pence via ebay

In those scenarios I fit a line out by the speaker jack on my non master volume ampspdf64 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:08 am My sound comes from overdriving 25-40W amps, so loops aren’t an option. Ok, that explains how you get your large tube amp level down to effect pedal voltage levels. The volume pedal is your signal attenuator. So simple yet I had not thought of that.

exactly and means you can control FX levels on the fly

Now I'm confused again. Doesn't the cornish buffer run off of 9V? Is so, aren't you back to overdriving the buffer with the large tube amp voltages? Apparently not.norburybrook wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 3:25 pm I use a buffered pedal by the way. i put a cornish buffer in a boss FV volume pedal.
Re: Wet/Dry Rig Configurations
Yes, I've tried doing it like that on newer builds, but it's not really feasible to implement a line out on older builds and vintage amps. So it's just easier to use the same 'wet' arrangement and mic the speaker, whatever main amp I choose to use. Not that I've often troubled larger venues in my performing career; maybe some echoey (ie empty) small ones
I suspect @donvan may not have picked up on that bit
But you're not feeding a direct speaker or 'last stage output of preamp' signal, at 10s of Vac, to the line out (and then to the volume pedal) though, eg the raw signal is brought down to a volt or 2 at most, via a potential divider?norburybrook wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 3:25 pmexactly and means you can control FX levels on the flyalso means you can use the line out from non master volume amps or no FX loop amps too...
