I think it is more of a utilitarian approach, but I also think each part was tested. There seems to be alot of military surplus parts, and blister-pack(NTE, Radio shack, Sprague) parts, so my guess is he used what was available.

Very nice build!
Forgive my ignorance, but what cap and resistor are meant with the "0.01uF/250k midrange setup "?
The very first cap on the board on the preamp side?

Wow, I know you've been working on that amp for a while.
I heard amongst the builders in different forums mention that the amp takes a journey before coming into it's own.
Funny how that works.
Congrats on the great build and sharing.

Yes, the 0.01uF replaces the stock 0.05uF that connects the the Midrange control. The 250kA Midrange potentiometer replaces the 100k control.

Thanks for the info kleinm! I could figure out the cap but never thought about the pot...:-)

Nice looking amp, for sure! It sounds like you've spent a lot of time and effort to get it to where you want it.

What is CL2, and what is the coupling cap off that? It seems to me that too much bass is making its way into the overdrive section on my amp, and I think that's what you're addressing here.

two .047`s in series is HALF the capacitance! ;) SO the OD entrance is getting trimmed...

Kleinm, you mind telling us what you are biasing your 6L6's at?
Thanks

Approximately 33-34mA idle current. I'm not sure why, but I prefer the sound with a slightly colder bias on this amp....

Jim,

I believe it, but my question was to kleinm because he seemed to think (as I do) that it may not be trimmed quite enough.

Is CL2 referring to V1b? And is the coupler you're suggesting changing to .02uf one of those two .05uF caps?

Yes, CL2 is just another name for V1B. The coupler I changed is the 0.05uF that is connected to the V1B plate. I lowered that to 0.02uF.

A while back I was trying to get maximum clean headroom out of the standard PI/output circuit(s). The platform was using 200ma Fender PT and Fender Prosonic 50 Watt OT. Without using my ears and just using the scope I got maximum power at 1500 to 6000 hz using the lower value screen resistors(470) and higher grid resistors (5K1). Once changed the amp sounded better too.... You can see the difference on a scope. Using the smallest value PI input cap you can stand also boosts clean headroom.
