Relay power supply
I just completed my relays and footswitch (channel and PAB), but have a problem. I can switch channels and switch the PAB, but not both at the same time. The LED's will light up, but the relais doesn't switch.
I used the Normster's "Layout with Relay's".
I spent two hours using the search function and read all about voltage doublers, voltage regulators, but still I'm not sure what layout to follow.
The relais I'm using are Omron Relays DPDT Coil:5V Contact:1A PCB G5V-2-H1.
Help will be appreciated!

Re: Relay power supply
First check this thread... might help in the supply side of things.
https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=4162
Secondly I checked the specs on the relay you are using. It has a 50 ohm resistance. This equates to .1 amps for every relay that you enable. I would opt for a different relay that did not draw as much current. A good alternative are the Axicon D2N relays. Their 5v 150mw version has a coil resistance of 167 ohms and will a little less than 30ma and will give you a supply stable.
PS> what part of the Netherlands. I am in Eindhoven quite often as I work for ASML.

Re: Relay power supply
Thanks for the reply, Glasman. I'm up North in Holland. Eindhoven is in the South. yet this country is so small, it's only a two hour drive.
Unfortunately I can't buy relays locally and with the holidays in sight, online ordering is gonna take a long long time.
What would be my best bet if I was gonna use this relay anyway? A PS with a voltage regulator?

Re: Relay power supply
Use a voltage doubler supply. 2 Diodes and 2 caps. It will be your best bet.tsl602000 wrote:Thanks for the reply, Glasman. I'm up North in Holland. Eindhoven is in the South. yet this country is so small, it's only a two hour drive.

Re: Relay power supply
Any chance you could point me to a schematic or layout? I'm new to this stuff and have pretty much no clue where to start....

Here is a quick schematic from Duncans power supply program. Very handy.tsl602000 wrote:Any chance you could point me to a schematic or layout? I'm new to this stuff and have pretty much no clue where to start....

Thanks Glasman.
I guess I owe you a beer the next time you're in Holland.

Not sure what is popular in your part of the country. But I have come to appreciate Dommelsh and Barvaria.tsl602000 wrote:Thanks Glasman.

Re: Relay power supply
One more question: Should I use a 7805 5V voltage regulator after the doubler?

Yes, take a look at the before mentioned thread.tsl602000 wrote:One more question: Should I use a 7805 5V voltage regulator after the doubler?

Well, I'm not too much a fan of those brews. I stick with Heineken...glasman wrote:
