Hey Guys,
Can someone help me understand the rectification schemes that I am seeing on the 6/12 VAC transformers that power the relays?
Specifically, I am looking at 3rd and 4th gen schematics and I see one side of the output from the transformer going to the middle of two diodes in series (and that seems pretty conventional) BUT the other side of the output is going to the middle of two filter caps in series.
I'm sure this is all legit and makes perfect sense, but I can't intuit why the one side is going directly to the filter caps - and how this works.
Can someone help me understand how this rectification scheme works and why one would choose this arrangement as opposed to something like you see in the higher voltage main supply?
Many Thanks,
-Paul

The first circuit on this page seems to be what you are describing...

I think it was done because the transformer too low voltage.

Yes, that would have to be it. And on the schematics that I was looking at it wasn't clear that they only had 6 VAC total. And since I wasn't familiar with this circuit, I thought it was some kind of rectifier that I hadn't seen.
Thank you.
