question about allesandro caps and dlite turret board

Post by dragonbat13 »

are the caps worth the money. Or is A guitar amp the wrong application for these? They seem to be aimed towards HI FI home audio.

Will a turret board with double turrets fit in a brownnote dlite chassis?

Thanks

These caps are really great in tweeds, but would probably be really clinical sounding in a D-style. There are also much less expensive alternatives if you really want PIO caps, the Mojo caps for example are very nice(have them in my 5E3 deluxe).

There's some really great Russian PIOs available for pennies.

My favorites are old Gudemans pirated from vintage military avionics. I was skeptical until they tested precisely on value with zero leakage at full working voltage. Donning my safety goggles I tested a few at 1000 volts still with acceptable results.

they sound good in tweeds? I have a narrow panel princeton that needs a cap job. Maybe I will try some PIO in it. I just wanted to try them out is something.

AS I write I think that would be the best bet. I have orange drops in my twin, using mallory 150 in the deluxe build. I will use the PIO in the tweed and check it out.

Its nice to have an eric johnson signature strat to play throught all of this! 8)

Some of those EJ strats are better than Custom Shop Guitars! If your narrow panel tweed is original don't replace the coupling caps unless they are leaky!!!!!!

Use Atom's or F&T's for the filter caps, Even TAD's will work.

Yes. The chassis is 2.5" tall so no problems. Many of our original prototypes were turret board construction, but I prefer working with eyelets.

off topic, but just curious why do you prefer eyelets?

I get a faster solder joint with eyelets and it's much faster for me to populate the board.
