SSS low filter

Post by larsvictor »

Regarding the low filter in SSS: The sum of the resistors in the network is 1047 kOhm. Is it possible to replace the resistance network with a simple 1 M potentiometer ? Or do I have an error in reasoning ?

I saw the same thing and tested it and will work fine.

I would guess that HAD wanted symmetry in the design and that is why he went with switched resistors.

Oh and that inductor appears to do bumpkiss. In or out, the response is exactly the same, modelled or meaured performance.

I would love to try a state variable filter at that position.

Yeah, only difference is no satisfying click click click of changing the low filter when using a pot versus a multiposition switch

Thank you. I found a 12-way switch for the hight filter. What value range for the capacitors would you recommend ? Does it make sense to exceed the range HAD used in his amps ? I remember that I read somewhere here, that the extreme values of the filters HAD used produce rather curious sounds.
