Yeah, I'm with you Colossal. I find no need to make things up as far as my sonic perception goes. I won't pretend to hear things if I don't but I also will not pretend to not hear things. Also because something sounds different does not always mean it sounds better to me. The added low end from that power cord sounded a little strange with some of the smaller Fender amps I used it with. It was playing around with that power cord that got me to thinking that maybe I should use a larger gauge wire for speaker wiring. Up until now I was using 18 gauge. Bonus photo.

Shoggoth, IMHO unless you are going to be frequently swapping out speakers, soldering is a more mechanically secure way to attach the wires. The cable clamp idea may be good to prevent the wire from rattling inside the cabinet.

Vacumn cleaner cord
Willin to bet the hi current draw softens up the copper, yielding that pleasing violin sound! lol!Colossal wrote:Ha, thought I read here a while back that Ken Fischer's favorite was vacuum cleaner cord. The kind with the lined grey insulation? I remember Mom's old yellow and brown Hoover had that cord.
