Emminence speakers for D-style amps.
I know this has been covered before. Having said that, there are some "new" variations of Dumble style amps in the last several yrs. Some of the "search" functions on speakers pull up older threads prior to the ManZamp, Tweedle D, etc ..............
So, I am thinking an updated review could be useful?
I've tried these Emminence speakers and have like them reasonably well with D amps: Red, White & Blues, Cannabis Rex, & Texas Heat.
(my amps are not Dumblish clones but have some inspiration from Dumble amps)
I've wondered about the Swamp Thing and any of the Legend Series amps and/or the Govenor? Anyone had experience with those and have a review to offer. I've sort of wondered about the 15" Commonwealth also?

And if so, what speaker and what type of Dumble and/or cab?

The Swamp Thang is kinda EV12Lish and sound quite good with D-Style amps...

I remember reading that the Delta Pro 12A was designed to be much like the EV12L. Maybe not quite as bright.

Jeff, I know you are talking about 12's but the Eminence 'Lil Buddy has been a pleasant surprise in my lower powered (cathode biased PP 7591) dumble-ish amp.
It has a flatter frequency response than many other guitar speakers. I had tried it in another amp, and it was too flat. On a whim I plugged it into the much brighter dumbleish amp and found it a great match. The flatter speaker response lets me take better advantage of the amp's tone.
The only drawback is having to make a new baffle board, or some kind of adapter

I'm really liking the Delta Pro 12a right now in my Forte 3D 1x12" cab with my #102 inspired builds. It sounds like an EV, but with smoother highs. Weighs about the same. Half the price.

I have G1265s, EV12L, and Swamp Thangs. The Swamp Thang is more "go to" than the others for my taste.

I also like the Delta 12 Pro. I have them in an oversized 4x12" nicknamed Backbreaker! The sound is smooth and fullbodied and just sings with my 183ish and HRM builds. It also gets loaned by metal players for recording on a regular basis who like the deep bass and tight response. No breakup at all!
It's also great for bassguitar!

Anyone try the Legend EM-12?
also WGS has a WGS12L

Red Fang combined with a Private Jack is supposed to be great with the ODS.

Re: Emminence speakers for D-style amps.
The speaker choice is the most important thing you have to do when you build an amp. You can buy the best OT and PT with NASA caps. and resistors but if you choose the wrong speaker, simply your amp don't shine!
I have one Eminence Cannabis Rex and although many people say great things about, It just don't fit in my amps.. I believe it's a great speaker... But in a treble amp, with Little bottom end. (Think bottom end with a Little hi-fi top end, that's the CR) not unpleasant but don't shine in the amps I've built. If your amp is harsh and ears percing that is your speaker choice!
Unsatisfied with the CR I bought one warehouse ET-65.. (Less bottom end than the CR and Scooped high mids but Nice and juicy low mids) that's the speaker that you can hear in the crappy playing vídeos that i've made. For the two amps that I have it's the right!
I have also one Celestion 70/80 it's not a bad speaker.. BUT depends on your amp.
The down side of speaker choice (for me) -> I have to buy it for try it!
I think I'll buy a swamp thang or a Celestion G12-65 for my other amp.
If you don't mind with crappy playing i can make a video about the differencies between my CR and Et-65.

IF you have time and motivation, I'd be interested in hearing that if you're using the same amp and guitar, etc...i can make a video about the differencies between my CR and Et-65.

I really like the Eminence Commonwealth 12. Picked one up to test amps in my shop. 225w so not much in the way of break up. Clear as a bell.
Now I have them in a 1x12 & 2x12.
Heavy, but they do sound great.

Re: Emminence speakers for D-style amps.
Fiberglass voice coils seem to work really well with Dumbles. Original EV SROs and Celestion G12-65s sport this early high power innovation. I'm not aware of anyone making a current production speaker with a fiberglass voice coil.
Re: Emminence speakers for D-style amps.
Just an FYI, I communicated with Emminence about my amp and asked which of 3 speakers Delta Pro 12A, Commonwealth or EV12L would be best.
My amp isn't a true Dumble, so that's an important factor. It the D'Mars ODS which has a Marshall preamp into Dumblish OD, FX ,etc.....
What I did was send a sound clip of the amp using a Cannabis Rex, then described what I was looking for that was different. I stated a wanted a warm clear (not necessarily clean) tone.
The Emminence representative was remarkably thoughtful in his responses with clear explanations of why he recommended one of these over the other & explained the positives of each. And he gave incredibly prompt responses.
I am glad I sent a short soundclip for him to listen to with a description of what I wanted different. I think that was very useful to the conversation.
At this juncture, I am planning to get the Delta Pro 12A & I think this will be a reasonable risk based on the info I have. I am anticipating it being a good match for the tone I want.
Thanks again to everyone for the thoughts and suggestions. After I get and try one, I'll offer an update and hopefully sound clip.
