Well to be fair it looks nice.
And besides - that was six years ago, so whatever was done is already vintage again.

Can't tell much from the tiny gut shot

From Rob Livesey site
Dumble OverDrive Special Combo, Tan, , , Call For Price!
This is an extremely rare Dumble amplifier. #0020 (circa late 70's early 80's). Alexander must have made this amp for someone special as it has a built in Dumbleator to allow effects to be used and the Dumbleator gives this amp a real 3-D quality. The tone is really dialed in on this amp with the overdrive channel sounding more like the newer ODS models, but smoother. The ultra rare built-in Dumbleator provides an extra gain stage and volume knob even if effects are not used. Tan suede covering, 6L6-100 watts with 1x12'' EV speaker. Get ready to enter ''Tone-Heaven''! Original footswitch included.

Re: So the old Dumble wasn't good enough
Something doesn't add up. The description of #0020 from Livesey's site sez 100W, the little shot of this amp's backplate clearly sez 50W.

Good point this pic shows 4 output tubes

Yeah....at the linked site (vintone) there are 2x different amps/chassis shown, one with slide switches (empty chassis, #0020, I guess) and the other more unusual one with the toggle switches. That chassis looks almost too perfect/pristine....wonder if its actually a non-Dumble build (fake)?David Root wrote:Something doesn't add up. Anyway, definitely some weirdness going on there.

It's a conspiracy I tells ya!
Somebody is selling a 50 watt amp as a 100W amp!

I don't get why someone would try to improve this amp changing sliders to switches etc. look at Lindley's Dumble, scars make it so much better

Re: So the old Dumble wasn't good enough
AFAIk the front is a new face plate screwed on top of the original chassis.

Heck Mesa's been doing that for decades... very seldom do the ones I see come anywhere close to the "expected" power rating. Sometimes half. Apologies for mentioning that brand in the Dumble Discussion. My bad...Structo wrote:It's a conspiracy I tells ya! Somebody is selling a 50 watt amp as a 100W amp!
Some "expert" sellers see 2 output tubes and assume 50W, see 4, it's 100W.
How many output tubes in a Winterland (450w) ?
How many wheels on an 18-wheeler?
down technical blind alleys . . .
