low plat classic 124 skyliner/high plate 183

Post by jmrckr »

I'm looking at dumble files, discussions, opinions, clips etc. over and over again size a really long time and I'm obsessed by these different version of the overdrive special. I really want to build one. I already have the CE black chassis and agb amplifiers boards. But I can't make up my mind on wich version of these two (low plat classic 124 skyliner/high plate 183). So, for those who played and compared different versions of the amp, what about a direct comparison of the 124 skyliner and the 183..... and the 124 original version (why not).

Thank you !

I don't have time to go into detail, but did you see this discussion?

Really interesting ... and helpful ! I think I will juste have to try to build one and judge by myself. I want to integrate my final build to a marshall/dumble style rig.

thanks

All this depends a lot on personal taste. That's the reason why Alexander Dumble builds custom made amps according to the personal taste of his client. So perhaps it would make some sense listening to the clips posted in this thread: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=11906

If you find some guitar tones that you really like and post a link here to the clips you liked best, we all here would have some kind of "reference" concerning the kind of guitar sound you're looking for. IMO this would probably be the best starting point for discussing what kind of circuit might be the one best suited for the guitar tone you're looking for.
