Mr Dumble had installed Chinese tubes in my friend's HRM. I have no idea of the type or vintage, but it was re-tubed by HAD in '98. I don't know if that helps at all..

Thanks....yeah there are some good chinese ones and around that time (a little earlier) is the vintage of my Pentas.

Also the gt12ax7m's are still around in other forms and they are real nice.

I'll post back after I audition and roll some more.

Amp is sounding good with a Bugle Boy V1, Mats V2, RCA V3, Current GT balanced pi tube in the PI.

That's 2 euros, 1 American, 1 China.

Although I liked the Penta & JJ...I have a more refined and complex tone with these.

Mullard took over V2.

Nothing I have can beat the bugle boy in V1

Sounds similar to the 183 with these tubes.
