ODS 124, 6v6, reverb, loop

Post by marcin.moz »

Hi. I built ODS based on layout 124. It is 20W amp with 6v6 tubes. I have built in dumbleator and reverb circuit. Clean is ok, but OD channel sounds not good. There are a few noisy notes. Maybe i've made a mestake. I've to check. Reverb is nice but not enough deep. It is a second amp I built. First was 124 model, without reverb and loop. It was 50 watt amp and worked fine.

Nice looking build. Where in the circuit is the reverb? They can do odd things if they are in the wrong place.

It is between preamp and loop. I bypassed reverb, it's not a reason

You got the bass cranked way up... Maybe you hit the knob while handling the amp? What's resistance did you set OD trim pot to?

Any other tubes to try?

Such a great looking build, I'm sure others might be able to put it under the magnifying glass to find spot any issues.

I need dumble combo dimensions. Is there any post about it?

Nice clean build!:D

I was trying to read the resistor values.

What value cathode resistors do you have on V1 and V2?

Cathode bypass capacitor values?

It can be a challenge to get the OD side sounding great.

First try different 12ax7 tubes in V1 & V2 and listen.

Try to tweak the component values in the amp at the volume you will be playing at when gigging.

As mentioned above, the OD trimmer should be set to 25K-30K ohms with the amp on and OD switched on. (Be careful!)

Don't get too carried away with changes until the amp has burned in for a while.

Change one thing at a time and listen.
