I own a TR Eric Gales and would like to know if and where this falls in the Dumble lineup. I prefer the sound of this amp over other TR's I've owned in the past like the 10th Anniversary and a Custom Reverb Artist. These pics were taken from someone selling this amp currently on TGP.
Is this circuit based off a specific Dumble model or did TR go a different direction. The amp is 50 watts, EL34, but can apparently also run 6L6's.
TR Eric Gales- based off a Dumble circuit?

I'm thinking 50W HRM for the core topology. I guessing V7 has a solid state plug in rectifier, because obviously V8 is a tube rectifier. Is there a rectifier switch on the back.

No switch on the back. Amp uses two 5AR4 rectifier tubes

The tube rectifiers are very non-Dumble but I've heard the the Gales TR is kind of a Marshall Dumble mix-up.
Can you give us a clearer picture of or write out the transformer code/writing?
Gales is one of my faves.

It absolutely has a Marshall sound. I A/B'd it with my 50 watt 68 Plexi and it is very similar. The overdrive sounds like a germanium fuzz to me when cranked. Also kind of a butler tube driver EJ tone.

Althhough rare, I've played a 100w HAD modded Showman with two rectos. And it sounded sweet. It was in one of those German hardwood boxes, I ended up building a suede cab for that amp.dreric wrote:The tube rectifiers are very non-Dumble but I've heard the the Gales TR is kind of a Marshall Dumble mix-up.

Re: TR Eric Gales- based off a Dumble circuit?
I've noticed a few of these TR's have tube rectifiers, the Matt Schofield one, the Exo 15 (perhaps an exception) and the Custom Reverb is available with it as an option.
Anybody got any guesses as to the construction of these tube rectifier circuits? I've never really looked at them before.
Also, interestingly, if you look at the gut shot of the MS model on proguitar, the bias pot is still between V7 and V8, despite the tubes being paired up as V6&7 as power and V8&9 rectifier.
