Ceriatone Dumble Amps * Whicn one did you chose and WHY???

Post by Toppscore »

Thanks for the "heads-up" from this site regarding Ceriatone "Dumble" clone amps/kits.
The suggestion to check-out the Ceriatone website turned out to be fantastic!

I like the Overtone HRM Bluesmaster 50W.
I'm not committed yet and want to hear your thoughts about Ceriatone products.

Would be very interested in hearing from other TAG forum members:

1) What do you think of the 50w HRM Bluesmaster?

2) What do you think of the 100w HRM Bluesmaster?
If 100w is too loud, is it possible to install a Hi/Low ~ 100w/50w switch?
Since it is not a vintage amp, I have no problem making custom mods.
Anybody done an impedence modification with ANY Ceriatone amp?

3) Please compare your reasons why you have any Dumble clone by any MFG?
Why did you choose a certain vendor over Ceriatone?
Why did you choose Ceriatone over another vendor?

Thanks for your input ~ Toppscore :)

I know you are fairly new here. It pays to check out the lay of the land. Besides there is a vast amount to be learned by looking through old posts. In fact, there is more info in the old posts than in the current ones, IMO.

Use the search function and you will find a lot of historical information that answers MANY of your questions. A little research will go a long way on this one.  Many here won't touch this topic.

Also look at the sticky at the top of this section.

Thank you for the heads-up, Vibratoking. Much appreciated
I'll not push it. I was referred by a TAG forum member to seek
Ceriatone amp kits over any other "kit" supplier. I'll definitely
use the TAG seach as you suggest
Don't want to push any hot buttons if there's a history of issues.

Toppscore, here's a tip:
scroll down to the bottom of the Dumble discussion page and you will see 95 pages so far as of today. It is pretty informative to start right back at page 95, when these guys were beginning, and plough your way through to the front. Take notes as you go. It is a humbling experience!
Best, tony

Thanks, Overtone. Will do.
I read the "sticky" comment, and more fully understand.
Will do local TAG "search" research first.
Thanks again. Toppscore

Thanks, Amplified Nation. I have been on the Ceritone.com website
and joined their forum. Good stuff.

Also, I stored your website information.
I'll be looking for a builder/supplier to make several speaker cabinets.
Will call you first, hopefully later this year.

Thanks man, I would be happy to help you with cabinets. If you look at the ceriatone layouts, you'll see a great deal of similarity to the Dumble layouts many of us use on AmpGarage, actually you may not even see a difference. Asking more specific questions to the "Dumble" circuits will get you a much warmer welcome than questions specific to Ceriatone.

Also, if you are looking for Dumble style manufactures, check out Fuchs. Their stuff is worlds better than any of the Ceriatone amps.

Good luck.

Thanks!

Thanks, Tayor. I read a bit about the TAG/Ceriatone relationship.
But, another TAGer said that Ceriatone was great stuff.
I will definitely review Fuchs. Thanks for the tip.
Somewhere, somehow, this year I'll buy a Dumple clone
and a Trainwreck clone. I have a ton of vintage Fender amps.
therefore I'm seeking different sounds/tones than Fender.

And along with them, some built speaker cabinets.

I have direct experience with 2 Ceriatone Dstyle kit amps. I did not build either of them. Neither sounded as good as my clone and both were sold off, FWIW. There are usually quite a lot of Ceriatones for sale, FWIW.

On the other hand, there are many Ceriatone owners that are happy with their amp. I have also heard some good clips, but I take clips with a grain of salt.

If you are considering buying a clone, you should seriously consider having someone here build you one, IMHO. I am guessing there are at least several guys here who would be interested in doing that.

In reference to another thread with Yogi Berra quotes:

"If you come to a fork in the road, take it"

Best of luck which ever fork you take.

Thanks. I have emailed Fuchs for info.
Also, great idea to buy a kit and have a TAGer build it.
Much appreciated. Toppscore :D
