Post by grtamp »

Hi , maybe this is a stupid question:

odyssey power-amp can sound good with a bass pre-amp in front?

Thanks

dont know about that combo.

I build a nice bass amp using a moded SVT power section (bah inductor!) with a variation of a marshall 1986 frontend. Power is the critical thing - I tend to build mine at 100 or 200 watts - cause those 300 watt irons run about 600$ as I recall. 6550's are nice.

no schematic - its in my head but thats pretty much it. SVT + 1986 == bass awesomeness

for 200 watts - 4x6550 I have to stack PT's - that is use 2 of em.

You can PM me - I might be able to find a hand drawn layout in a while (days - weeks) and get a scan for the 100 watt version if your interested in building.
