d-style amp problem
Hi everyone thought I 'd try to explain my prob and see if anyone could help I have a brown note 44 d-lite build from kit any the amp never had any problems but Moss Hudson said the heater wires were normally on top instead of along the chasis so I decided to change now the amp's master doesnt work the amp is on when the master is off and when I turn up the master it'd increases the volume only slightly I've since triple checked all my connections everything seems correct, tubes bias up ok the od level doesnt turn off the amp also, i 've tryed new tubes anyway just thought Id try and see if this has happened to anybody else.
thanks

I see you have 60+ posts, but I don't know your skill level. Have you verified that your new heater wiring is electrically sound?
Post photos!
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
Re: d-style amp problem
If you only redid the heater wiring, any changes would have only affected the heater filament string. I'm making the assumption that you do have heater voltage at each tube and it was verified. Thus, exactly what else did you do? Did you try do any mods while you wereharris51 wrote:Hi everyone thought I 'd try to explain my prob and see if anyone could help I have a brown note 44 d-lite build from kit any the amp never had any problems but Moss Hudson said the heater wires were normally on top instead of along the chasis so I decided to change now the amp's master doesnt work the amp is on when the master is off and when I turn up the master it'd increases the volume only slightly I've since triple checked all my connections everything seems correct, tubes bias up ok the od level doesnt turn off the amp also, i 've tryed new tubes anyway just thought Id try and see if this has happened to anybody else.![]()

all tubes light up, Ive triple checked to see if any bad connection or grounding problems it's a mystery, Ill admit I'm a newbie to the amp building world can follow a layout pretty good but that about it. so here goes with some stupid questions: what setting on my voltage meter do I set it at to check voltages at the tubes-ac or dc volts or mv
Re: d-style amp problem
Post some clear close ups of your open chassis.
Hopefully not cell phone pics, because we need to see the detail.
