I am in agreement with Bob I. I also like the overall sound of the amp without the Dlator and with the MiniMix. As with anything, there are pros and cons. I find the pros to be greater in this configuration. The cleans are so much better without the Dlator. Bolder, more chimey, more air... The OD side is different without the Dlator, better for some tones and worse for others. I use bright on and mid off for cleans and visa versa for OD. That is my compromise when I don't use the Dlator. I also work the tone controls on the guitar quite a lot.

Do you run your master up quite a bit (like 12:00-1:00)?

I find with the D'lator I can run both preamp volume and master volume up where the chewier tones happens then use the D'lator Recovery (output) pot for the actual master volume for the rig.

Even at low bedroom volumes it sounds very good.

I also use an Xotic X-Blender to run the TC G Sharp effects (reverb and delay) to liven it up a bit from dry.

Sort of a parallel loop within a series loop.
The neat part is I can adjust the mix of that with my foot due to the large knob on the X-Blender.

The only bad part is having four cables going to the D'lator from the pedal board.

Anyways, if you are happy with the tone that is all that matters.

Yes, I tend to run it there, but the pot in my amp does not significantly open up until 3:00 or so...comparing pot rotations is confusing at best for me. I tend to run it loud and baffle the front to knock down some of the sound pressure. Bedroom levels never sound good to me. Perhaps I have a bad Fletcher-Munson curve. :P

Yeah, knob position doesn't have a lot of relevance unless the next guy has the same exact amp and pots

Then never ending hunt for tone continues. :D
