blues master relay transformer running hot

Post by FuzzFreak »

i am using a chassis-mount transformer from radioshack 12VAC.450mA inside my amp that is running hot. It works and the voltages are fine, the regulator doesn't seem to be hot but there is a humming. there is no smoke but i noticed there is a little bit of 'that' smell when I took the chassis out. this is a 2 week old transformer. is this normal?

Funny, I am having a similar issue with a new transformer. With the secondaries tied off I have no heat so I suspect my wiring on the PS. OR Maybe it's because I decided to wire the LED to the relay PS

Are you using a PCB for the relay supply? Fairchild 7812CT regulator?
