It seems you strayed off the Dumble reservation quite a bit.
It is best to copy the masters before straying too far.

Yeah it first has to be remotely Dumble like and then #183. When one wanders so far off the range it makes troubleshooting that more difficult.Structo wrote:It seems you strayed off the Dumble reservation quite a bit.

So where is the bias board? Under the power filter caps???
Also, those mounting nuts/bolts look pretty close to the cap board. Have you gone through with a meter to check all the connections to ensure you don't have a short circuit somewhere?

I'm going to have to agree with Tom and TM. Layout is a huge black art, and I imagine Ken and Alexander spent a lot of time to get their layout and grounding schemes perfected.
You sort of have to learn the rules before you can break them.
I hate to say this, but maybe the best advice is to start over with something closer to the original.
Before you do anything else, I would desolder the leads to the OT and make sure you haven't fried it. There should be a small resistance between the primaries, half that between each primary and center tap.
The comment that concerns me is "I began to turn the volume up and then that oscillation from my OT came back..and i mean the sound is physically coming from the output transformer!"
If you have a short in the OT, you'll have to chalk it up to an expensive learning experience. But don't be discouraged. I once had an OT literally vibrate off my bench before frying, back in the days.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. It took a bunch more troubleshooting, but i found the problem. I took some time and cleaned up the lead dress in general. It hasn't blow a fuse since and thankfully my OT is fine.
I know this build wasn't the norm, but thanks for all your help guys..much appreciated!

John is right, give back to the community on what the problem was. It might help someone else.John_P_WI wrote:Well, do tell.... Don't keep us in suspense....

Re: 183 build keeps blowing fuses.....
I ended up cleaning up the lead dress throughout the entire amp, and that seemed to cure the problem. So im guessing that i had a grid wire to close to a plate wire or possibly my NFB wire was to close to my PI wires. I would have never guess lead dress had that much of an effect!
