Next Run of Circuit Boards - Revisions, etc....

Post by jborders5 »

Hi All-

I wanted to get an idea of how much demand there will be if I have another run of circuits boards produced. Please PM me and let me know what you would be interested in.

I know I can't make everyone happy, but are there any revisions or other requests the group would like to see. One change is I'm going to increase the distance on the bias supply capacitors to allow for 160V as well as 100V. Anything else?

If there is enough interest and I can keep costs the same as the first run, we could have inventory again in 2 - 3 weeks.

Jason here's my revisions.

1. On the main power board, increase the two big cap bleeders and the B4 & B5 bleeders pad holes to .056. This would accomodate resistors with .045 lead diameters.

2. On the FET board, increase the 150K pad holes to .056.

3. On the main power board, reduce the center to center spacing of the first dropping string resistor to 1.325".

Nothing really to add but I wanted to thank you for providing these boards.
Makes it a lot easier to build one of these amps without having to make those boards. :D

Great looking boards! I'll probably pick up a set for my next build. I'd love to have the option to do an HRM/Bluesmaster.

Although it's easy enough to build, an option for non-precision power supply board would be great too!

+1 on slightly increased spacing for the bias supply caps. Mine are 160V Nichicons, and were a tight squeeze. Eleven mils (0.056 hole for a 0.045 lead) is pretty sloppy, isn't it? Perhaps that is the drill size, with the extra clearance needed for the through-plating? I had to open the large holes on the main board to pass four leads of the PVC wire I used, and the rather brittle material was difficult to drill cleanly.

I mic'd some NOS Piher and Beyshalags yesterday and found some right at .048 which are on the high side. I think .005 radial clearance is a lot less sloppy than an eyelet :D . It could be tighted up to .051 if that a pad size option.
