I'm using a Rocktron Intellifex not sure how it rates these days as far as processors go but its every bit as good as the Quadraverb I used many years ago.
Yeah, they are still very pricey. The only reason I have the 2290 is because I bought it about 10 years ago, when my work was steady. I have cycled through most every piece of equipment I owned since then. (selling most of it) But, for some reason could never part with it. Having said that, I don't know if I would replace it now even if I could. There's many newer processors that I would consider first.
What might be a newer one to consider for use in a small home studio?
BTW dcribbs, the amp rewire and cleanup looks great. I didn't think the pastel was so bad. Wink
Thanks SoundPerf
no more feminine girly colored wire for me...only manly man colors
well unless my wife wants me to build her an amp...mmmm

Are you talking more about a general purpose recording type proccessor or one dedicated to guitar? Oddly enough the Intellifex is one processor that I have never played through. From what I hear it's still considered a nice guitar processor. It was on my short list of "wants" back some years ago, but never got one.
Like I said, I'm partial to TC Electronics gear. As far as general purpose and not very expensive, I had a M-ONE XL that was very nice and worked well in the loop of my amp. And for the pricey end, the M2000 & 3000 are good. For just guitar, I would think the Nova System and G Major 2 is something to consider and if money is no object, the G-System is over the top and quite nice.
It's hard to narrow it down. There's a slew of stuff out there now. If I had nothing at all and was trying to fill several areas at once. I would seriously consider getting the Roland GR-55. I always wanted a guitar synth and the effects part of it sound very nice. Part of it modeling based which I'm not a big fan of, but I believe they don't have to be part of the equation. This probably doesn't seem practical to most, though.

Can you describe what you hear that is different from just having your MPX110 plugged into your Dumbleator?
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what this actually does?
Is it mainly just leaving a dry signal that bypasses the loop and is then mixed with the effect?
What do you hear that are the sonic benefits?
I honestly don't hear bad stuff from my G Sharp and the D'lator.
But, I am also not cranking the amp up too loud since my amp is in a smallish room.
Thanks a lot!
Tom
I can only describe it as transparant. Like I'm just plugged into the amp and d'lator alone, but with reverb added.
I may add that the mini mix's effect on the marshall was much more noticable. It was like a blanket was lifted from the amps tone.
Haven't spent a lot of time with the Dumbles yet.

Thanks for your insight Chris

but any suggestions for general purpose recording is appreciated also...
the TC stuff looks nice...Gmaj 2 seems to have some very nice effects
any thoughts on the TC pedals?

Yeah, I think those Toneprint pedal sound really nice. And since they give the "Toneprints" for free the concept is cool too. When I first heard they were doing this, I thought, oh geez they're going to charge for added functionality. But I think it's is looked upon as a way to have popular musicians endorse the pedal and boost sales. But overall all the effects seem top notch. I like what I've seen of the Corona Chorus.
