New clip on YouTube

Post by Tdale »

Here is a sound clip.

Used the camcorder microphone, so the sound is poor. My playing is worse, so I went for a simple riff that's easy to repeat, and makes it easier to compare the sounds.

First a few chords in clean mode, then a riff repeated in OD mode, with more and more overdrive. Volume is kept at about the same level.

Not very good...but still, it's a clip for now. I'll get a better one later, with a studio mic, and someone actuallly playing to music.

Not bad, it has that Dumble charactor. What guitar and speaker were you using?

My experience says that the input volume needs to be at least over 11 oclock. I set mine at 1 to 2 oclock fwiw...

Sounds good. Lets hear more!

Hehe...normal alpha pots :)

I'll try with the input volume up around 1 or 2. I left it low so I wouldn't play that loud, but I could have done that with the master in stead.

I use a self-made strat with Joe Barden pickups. I used the Neck/Middle pickup position, and rolled back the tone knob slightly on the neck pickup.

The speakers is actually the DC30clone combo I made, and it's really cheap Celestions...G12-75... I need to get som better speakers in that amp. I got them just to make the amp complete, when I finished it, but both the DC30 and the Dumble deserves better speakers.

Hopefully I'll get some better clips later... recorded in a studio..

I find that my best OD tone is with both gain pots at approx the same setting. Running one up high and the other low isn't as smooth. Try both of them at about #4 on the dial and go up or down from there. Adjust the level from the master.

For some reason Dumble's seem to like the bridge PU. Try Bridge/middle if you want that quack.

Sure does. I really like the Eminence Red White and Blues as well as the Swamp Thang.

You've got a great start.
